Elect Gary Flakes: Together We Can Make a Difference!
I am Gary Flakes, a candidate for Colorado Springs City Council District 4.
I decided to run for City Council so that District 4 (Southeast Colorado Springs) would have true representation. I am an active community organizer and believe civic engagement and strong leadership are needed for the progression of our city, state, and country.
I understand the unique needs and opportunities of our district and I will bring a fresh perspective to City Hall. The perspective of a thirty-two year old who believes in inter-generational dialogue, cooperation over competition, community involvement in policy making and innovation to old problems.
When I reflected upon the
concerns I heard and saw from the residents of District 4 while registering voters, getting out the vote and assisting people to help make our democracy works at its best. I knew there was time for a change. The people expressed frustrations about
jobs, disbelief that their vote would make a difference, our youth sat around idly in need of mentors and programs that would help them to reach their full potential. It was the point of view one gets when they walk the
neighborhood and meet people on the heart level. It was the connection that one feels from their own plight.
When everyone participates and their voices are heard then our governing bodies will truly reflect the needs, concernand vision of our community.
I am that true representation.
